Topic 1: About the training

This topic gives a brief overview of the training.

You can start by watching the video of Michael talking about never giving up (2 minutes).

Question: What experiences do you have of working with people living alone with dementia?

There are three more topics in this training:

Topic 2: About the research

This topic presents findings from the research project into experiences of people living alone with dementia and without family and friends nearby. It also explains how the resources were developed from the project.

This topic links to videos from people with dementia, and to guides for people with dementia and the public.

Topic 3: What practitioners and providers can do

This topic gives an overview of the messages from the research project for people who work with people with dementia. This includes professionals (such as social workers, occupational therapists, nurses and social care practitioners), and providers (such as home care providers, care homes, and voluntary and community organisations).

This topic links to videos from people with dementia and from people working in social care, and to a guide for people working in social care.

Topic 4: What commissioners can do

This topic gives an overview of the messages from the research project for commissioners.

This topic links to a video from a commissioner and to a guide for commissioners.

We recommend that you start by looking at Topic 2 to find out about the research.

You can then look Topic 3 for practitioners and providers or Topic 4 for commissioners, whichever relates most closely to your role.
